Michelle Lyn Kidder, 58, of Lafayette, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, April 1, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis with her family at her bedside. She fought for her life for twenty days following a horrific accident while crossing Creasy Lane at a crosswalk on her battery-operated chair.
Michelle was born July 9, 1965, in Lafayette, Indiana, to Donald and Linda Kidder. She was a lifelong resident of Lafayette and was a graduate of Jefferson High School.
She did not know a stranger, had a big heart and a smile for everyone. She was born in July and absolutely loved summer and anywhere she had access to water. She loved boating on Lake Freeman with her friends and family, Florida beach vacations, and she never said no to an invite to special friends and/or family gatherings.
Michelle will be greatly missed by all. Especially her son, Ryan. She was his best friend. She is survived by her son, Ryan Kidder, her mother, Linda Kidder, her brother, Douglas Kidder, and niece, Megan Kidder. She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Kidder.
Her family would like to recognize the nurses, doctors, and staff at St. Vincent Hospital for all they did to support them through this tragic accident and especially for the loving care they gave Michelle.
A private funeral for Michelle’s close friends and family will take place in the Mausoleum Main Chapel at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette on Friday, April 12. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a 12:00 p.m. service and burial to follow.
In honor of her memory, please make loving donations to Food Finders Food Bank, 1204 Greenbush St., Lafayette, IN 47904-2065.
Rest in peace, Michelle.
