Glenda B. Oberle, age 80, of Lafayette, died at IU Health Arnett Hospital on May 6 at 12:08 p.m. surrounded by her family.
Born on June 23, 1943, in Somerset, KY, she was the daughter of the late Lela Stiers and step-daughter of the late Kenton Stiers.
She was a devoted sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a devoted dog mom to “Taffy” and “Buffy,” who preceded her in death. Like her mother, she was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for her granddaughters. She also enjoyed tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, decorating of any kind, and cooking for her family on the holidays.
Surviving are her two sons, Leslie Oberle (Jeanette) and Michael Oberle (Martha); four granddaughters, Kristen Barrick (Ryan), Brandi Oberle, Morgan Oberle, and Jasmine Carrillo; five great-grandchildren Wyatt, Willow, Julian, James, and David; one sister: Shelby Lee; 1 brother: Joey Stiers (Deb); three nieces: Jolene Gurrola (Jessie), Anne Ingersoll, and Elyse Stiers; and two nephews: Justin and Dallas Stiers. She is preceded in death by her sister Patsy Pickett and nephews Randy and Ricky Lee.
She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Family and friends may attend the viewing at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette on May 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with funeral services to follow from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
