Dear Peggy and family, Our hearts are deeply saddened by the news of Dwight’s passing. We thought a lot of thIs special man! May you find much comfort and peace knowing he is now at rest with our great Lord and Savior. Our prayers are with you all as you adjust to his absence from your lives. Cherish the memories and the life you shared together! Love in Christ, Paul and Carolyn Bennett
Mr. Briggs was a kind and caring man. I had the opportunity to meet him while on a trip to Washington D.C. He was our host and local historian, took us to visit the Lincoln Memorial and the White House. It was early March and we walked down the “Cherry Blossom Lane”. In front of a memorial, we spent an hour, while he spoke of the history of the place. Mr. Briggs had a broad smile and an air of content about him. It was one of the most memorable episodes on our trip to D.C. He will be missed.
I do not know if my tribute was sent. I will leave another. I have such happy memories of Dwight as kids. His dad drove us to Sunday School every Sunday, great dad. We did a play in a group and he was George Washington. but he broke his leg. but he still came and gave his performance with a big caste on. He was a truly great guy even as a kid when we lived in Scarsdale, N.Y. The whole family can be proud of Dwight, even as a young kid, he was loyal and had courage.

Please forgive the tardiness of this entry; however, I only recently heard of Mr. Briggs’ passing. My name is Kevin Hawthorne and I wanted to share the importance Mr. Briggs played in my life. My family were long time members of Immanuel Baptist church and close friends with the Briggs family. My older brother was close friends with Paul, my sister with Tim, and myself with Andy. For years, Mr. Briggs acted as my Stockade leader and later as my Boys’ Brigade leader at Immanuel. I have fond memories of those years camping, hiking, and Wednesday night meetings. As a young man, I was fortunate to have several positive Christian role models in my life and I’m proud to say Mr. Briggs was one of them. He lived an inspired life that was truly inspired by God. While my sympathy extends to his family, I know the joy they share knowing Mr. Briggs was welcomed into the heavenly Kingdom with open arms and the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Dear Peggy, please forgive the tardiness of this entry. I just discovered on internet that Mr. Briggs had passed away. I don’t know if you remember me. I’m Marie-Hélène. I’m French and I’ve lived one year in Virginia. My sister Brigitte had come to visit me for Christmas. We knew not so many people around and a friend took us to your house on Christmas Eve. You and your husband welcomed us as if you had always known us. I will never forget the warmth and the friendliness of this Christmas evening. My sister and I are forever grateful to you for having open your door to us that night. The true spirit of Christmast was there ! May Dwight rest in heavenly peace.
Dear Peggy, Please forgive the tardiness of my entry, I just discovered that your husband had passed away. You probably don’t remember me but how could I forget you ? You opened your door to me and my sister Brigitte on a Christmas Eve in 1988. I was then teaching French at GMU in Virginia and hardly knew anyone. A friend of mine had taken me and my sister to your welcoming house. We’ve spent a wonderful evening there, full of friendliness and of faith. The magic of Christmas was there ! No doubt that Mr Briggs is now at the right of the Lord. Respectfully, Marie-Hélène Alfonsi-Piani. (Please excuse my poor English)
